Fridays with Frank: How to PETrify Your Pumpkin this Halloween

We are celebrating my first Halloween with an amazing pumpkin that looks just like me.

Trust me, my humans aren’t experts at carving, which they declared repeatedly while checking out the pumpkin carving templates at Walmart.com.

There were 27 dog breeds to choose from…but, come on, why would you choose anything but the German Shepherd? It’s just common sense, folks.

In this sponsored post by Lunchbox, I will show you how simple it is to carve a pumpkin using the Purina template. OK, OK, “we” will show you. Apparently I’m not allowed to handle knives because of the whole “lack of opposable thumbs” thing. Poop.

My humans were not terribly confident that they would be able to carve the pumpkin as the template showed, but they did! Having a variety of effective tools helped. They used a keyhole saw (a small drywall saw), an awl (which is recommended on the template), and a utility knife.

Other than that, they just took their time and carefully carved the pumpkin to replicate the template’s design, down to every last line.

Slow and steady wins the race, folks!

Purina has all sorts of dog pumpkin carving templates for your pumpkin, including Pugs, Chihuahuas, Boxers, and a whole lot more. (As I’ve said before, the German Shepherd template is the best choice.) There’s even a scary Howl-o-ween cat for you cat owners out there. (I don’t recommend being a cat owner, though, because dogs are way better.)
