We’ve had rain, rain, and more rain this week (and lots of cold!). Blech. I am not a fan of the rain. I sure as heck don’t go for walks in it! Heck, I try to not even go to the bathroom if I can help it.
So here’s the scoop. I was sick this week.
Like, diarrhea sick. Ugh. First I tried the rice diet…which didn’t work. Then I tried not eating altogether…which didn’t work.
Which meant I had to go to the doctor. Blech.
Good news: I didn’t have to wait long. And, overall, I’m in excellent shape.
Bad news: I might have worms. Long, skinny ones. Might. Blech.
So, as a result, I’m now eating rice with boiled chicken in small portions about three or four times a day. (Remember that neat trick where I pick up a mouthful of food and carry it out into the dining room and eat it off the floor? It’s hard to do that with rice. But I’ll keep at it.)
I need to take a dewormer, now and then again in three weeks. (I’m not sure if this dog dewormer would work, but we’ll keep it in mind for the future.) I also need to take Metronidazole. And then, I have to take probiotics for a week. Plus, the vet was able to up-sell us on a bag of “prescription” dog food that’s specially formulated for gastrointestinal issues. $22.99 for a six-pound bag of Purina Pro Plan Gastroenteric dog food. Holy guacamole.
My temperature was 102, which is on the “high side of normal,” but entirely normal for German Shepherds, I was informed. So, that’s good.
And, I weigh 65 pounds! Who would have guessed? When I was at the kennel in July (about nine weeks ago), I weighed 47 pounds. So that means I gained roughly two pounds a week? That’s a lot! In July, we predicted (we googled it) I would weigh about 58 pounds as an adult. Take that, Internet!
