I was not compensated for writing this post. Venta provided a product sample to facilitate my review. My opinions are 100% honest and 100% mine.
Every now and then you come across a product that is a game-changer. I’ve been lucky enough to encounter several such products and I proudly have them in my home. The newest in my collection?
The Venta Airwasher.
It’s the best thing to cross my threshold in a really long time.
The Venta Airwasher is one of those products that’s a two-fer. It fulfills two very important purposes — a) it humidifies dry air and b) it purifies it. Why is that important, you ask?
Well, it’s only important if feeling more alert, sleeping better, not getting sick as often, reducing pet odors, and eliminating allergens is important. Is it? Hmm? Is it?
Of course it is!
With the Venta Airwasher, you will no longer deal with filters (trust me, no one wants that headache) or pollen and dust allergens, cold bacteria, pet hair and dander, and headaches! No more headaches? Sign. Me. Up. However, along with the Venta Airwasher comes other things. Like clean air, moisturized skin, improved concentration, healthy plants, and wood protection. Yes, wood protection.
The Venta Airwasher will be especially important over the winter. You see, our heating units, whichever kind they are, dehydrate the air in our homes, which wreaks havoc on our health, as well as the health of our pets, plants, and even our home itself.
Oh yeah. That’s because the Venta Airwasher rehydrates the air and eliminates dust. Dust, folks, dust. (It also removes allergens so you can breathe easier!) Dust accumulates in our furniture and our electronics, affecting its performance and lifespan. True! In addition, the humidity in our home affects…your musical instruments. You need to have the right indoor environmental balance to keep instruments like pianos and guitars in top condition. Who knew?
There’s something else, though — antiques, be they heirlooms or furniture. An air purifier is one of the best ways to safeguard your precious pieces.
I was eager to take the Venta Airwasher for a spin for a few reasons. First (and most important), the air quality in our home was not, shall we say, top notch. We both have this dry cough that we can’t seem to get rid of. And don’t even get me started on my allergies. They’re a nightmare! (More on that later.)
Second, when people smoke in your house (as they tend to do in mine), it creates this staleness that is hard to get rid of. And I’m not a fan of masking it with air fresheners, either.
Third, pets. Need I say more?
So how is the Venta, really? Does it deliver? Does it meet expectations? Does it fulfill its promise?
Yes, yes, and yes. And then some.
I first plugged in the Venta Airwasher in the dining room/living room (it’s basically one large room). Within 24 hours, I was impressed. Our coughs had improved (yay!) and I just felt…better. More alert, more energetic, and my head was clearer. The air smelled and felt fresher.
The next step? Trying it in the basement. The basement has no air circulation and no fresh air. It’s stale, to say the least. Plus, it’s where the cats hang out, along with their litter box. This would be the test. Improvement? Yes. Problem? Yes.
The Venta Airwasher is so freaking amazing, I don’t know where to put it. I want one for the basement, and one for the first floor. It’s that good — not only will you treasure it, you’ll want more than one.
For allergy sufferers, Venta Airwashers are a godsend. Anyone who has allergies knows how much they affect your upper respiratory system. And triggers can be all around you because, let’s face it, allergens are literally everywhere. The patented technology of the Venta Airwasher effectively reduces dust and mold when it cleans your air by trapping the allergens and irritants within the device.
You may have noticed that I mentioned “cold bacteria” earlier. That’s because the Venta Airwasher protects you from colds and flu. When you wash the air in your home, you stop the transmission of infection. And you recharge your immune system.
Let’s try that a different way, just to be clear. Dry air is drawn into the Venta Airwasher and meets the surface area of the disk stack that rotates inside the Venta Airwasher. The airborne particles — dust, pollen, smoke, etc. — pass over the disk stack. Those particles adhere to the wet disk stack and are pulled down into the water. The water evaporates and is sent out into the room. (Because the Venta uses the cold evaporation process, you won’t experience excess humidity.)
Dirt and dust do not evaporate, of course — those particles remain on the bottom of the lower housing and can be wiped out or rinsed every 10-14 days.
Ideally, the Venta Airwasher results in a humidity level of about 40-55%. Several factors affect that, however, like your heating/cooling system, your home’s insulation, layout of your home, air circulation, and amount of water in the unit. When you first use the airwasher, the water will evaporate more quickly (or if your room is severely dry) and you might experience a lower humidity level. The water level should be checked and topped off daily for best results (the LW 15/25/45 models have automatic shut-off when an insufficient water level is reached). For the first week or so, the water level dipped about one-third each day.
If you have children, the Venta Airwasher is a no-brainer (or it should be!). As the best baby humidifier and best air cleaner for children, Venta’s filterless humidifier and air washer technology is proven to boost restorative sleep patterns, improve air quality, and reduce small airborne particles. Now if only we could have Venta Airwashers everywhere we go — doctors’ offices, classrooms, you name it!
Some of my favorite features of the Venta Airwasher:
- It doesn’t overhumidify.
- It’s energy efficient.
- It has NO filters! Woot!
- It’s low maintenance — easy to clean and easy to fill.
- It’s easy to use.
I don’t want to forget to mention that purified, hydrated air will leave your skin moisturized! Or that the Venta Airwasher is made with 100% green energy! Their airwashers are made from recyclable materials. They’re economical to run and use less energy with every new version! Plus, it’s made in Germany, which is renowned for its engineering.
There are different sized airwashers depending on the size of your space. The LW15 is for rooms up to 200 square feet, the LW25 is for rooms up to 400 square feet, and the LW45 is for rooms up to 800 square feet. One size does not fit all, and an airwasher is no different. You want to get the right unit for the job!
If you’re wondering whether “airwasher” is a word, it is. It was invented by the head of Venta thirty years ago, right around the same time he invented the airwasher category. Alleluia! I’m all about washing my air of pollen, dust, mites, odor, bacteria, and germs. Thank you, Venta! You have changed the game.
You don’t have to take my word for it — check out the reviews on Facebook. The Venta is winning people over left and right!
