My review of The Healthy Family Slow Cooker Cookbook
I need easy recipes. Seriously. Like no-brainers, really. So when I received a copy of The Healthy Family Slow Cooker Cookbook, I was anxious to see how “do-able” the recipes were.
I’d also like to make something in my slow cooker that a) doesn’t require a cream-based soup (what’s up with all those cream soup recipes?) and b) doesn’t need piles of salt.
How about roasted turkey that requires no salt? Done. In fact, the prep should take about…a minute. Maybe a little longer, since you have to dissolve bouillon. So, two minutes?
Or Chicken Quesadillas? Or Chicken and Artichoke Fettucini? Italian Pork Roast. Mmmmm. Jambalaya. Cookie Bars. Yum!
Here’s the thing about The Healthy Family Slow Cooker Cookbook — the recipes are easy, quick, and healthy. But they’re amazing. You generally don’t find easy, quick recipes — that are also healthy — that you can get excited about. These recipes are a different story. You’ll want to try all 75 of them. I do, anyway.
Perhaps you’re looking for something specific — chicken recipes or sandwiches or soups or desserts or…well, you get the idea. They’re something for everyone, or everything for some folks. I’m one of the latter. I’d happily try every one of these recipes. I did try the Marinated Drumsticks, which were delicious.
