Black Friday Sales

I’ve done my time amongst the crowds shopping the Black Friday sales. Those days are over, however. I don’t really do much Christmas shopping anymore, since it seems like everyone wants gift cards these days (what the heck is up with that, anyway?). But, yes, I have braved the stores for Black Friday sales and, yes, it can be insane.

I’ve done my Black Friday shopping at Walmart, Best Buy, Kmart, and Kohl’s, as well as outlets. I’ve spent many hours standing in lines — at the doors, waiting for them to open, as well as in the store, waiting to check out. Black Friday sales are not for the weak, my friend. But it’s worth it. Good gravy, it’s worth it.

All those deals — toys and electronics and clothes and…well, everything! I’ve made lots of purchases on Black Friday over the years, but none were all that memorable.

Black Friday Sales

Since those days, I’ve taken a new approach to Black Friday shopping. I shop online…and I buy stuff that I want. For me. Yeah, I’m that person. Don’t judge me.

So, several years ago, I was on the hunt for an Apple laptop (I desperately needed one…ugh!) and an iPod for my daughter, and I simply couldn’t find them on sale. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that I could get a MacBook and an iPod Touch on sale — which was virtually unheard of at the time, mind you — during Black Friday sales.

Those were major purchases for me, and wound up being my most expensive Black Friday. But those purchases are the ones that I still talk about…because they were the best Black Friday deals I’ve ever gotten. It also happens to be the only one that I really did my homework on.

Then I realized, hmmm…maybe — just maybe — it might be worth my while to do some research on Black Friday sales. Sure, we know all about the big stores and their Black Friday ads…but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There’s a whole lot more to smart Black Friday shopping than just grabbing some sale ads.

Ya know … I prefer to unwrap REAL gifts lol not giftcards – but oh well I think the younger generation always wants money but adults think gift cards are better I suppose. I like ripping the heck out of packages! :)
    Great photos by the way!
Will check out the giveaway – fingers crossed!

Okay, where did you find Apple stuff on sale?! I know Apple.com sometimes has it marked down slightly, but not much. I would loooove a Macbook Air.

I know!! That’s why I was SO excited to find it. I believe this was before you could get Apple products at Best Buy, etc…so it sure was difficult to find sales! I actually did order it from Apple.com. I never see them on sale like that any other time of year. But, yes, it’s definitely worth looking on Black Friday!

This year I am on the hunt for a chainsaw and a few items for my boys. I’m not sure I’ll be braving the early morning crowd but I do like to venture out later in the afternoon to see what sales I can find.

My mother was always big into Black Friday sales. Now I use a lot of Coupons.com discounts and Cyber Monday sales.

I love Black Friday shopping, but my husband prefers Cyber Monday shopping. Either way, we love Coupons.com. They make it so easy to save, especially since you just use your computer to look up deals with them!
