I’ve done my time amongst the crowds shopping the Black Friday sales. Those days are over, however. I don’t really do much Christmas shopping anymore, since it seems like everyone wants gift cards these days (what the heck is up with that, anyway?). But, yes, I have braved the stores for Black Friday sales and, yes, it can be insane.
I’ve done my Black Friday shopping at Walmart, Best Buy, Kmart, and Kohl’s, as well as outlets. I’ve spent many hours standing in lines — at the doors, waiting for them to open, as well as in the store, waiting to check out. Black Friday sales are not for the weak, my friend. But it’s worth it. Good gravy, it’s worth it.
All those deals — toys and electronics and clothes and…well, everything! I’ve made lots of purchases on Black Friday over the years, but none were all that memorable.
Since those days, I’ve taken a new approach to Black Friday shopping. I shop online…and I buy stuff that I want. For me. Yeah, I’m that person. Don’t judge me.
So, several years ago, I was on the hunt for an Apple laptop (I desperately needed one…ugh!) and an iPod for my daughter, and I simply couldn’t find them on sale. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that I could get a MacBook and an iPod Touch on sale — which was virtually unheard of at the time, mind you — during Black Friday sales.
Those were major purchases for me, and wound up being my most expensive Black Friday. But those purchases are the ones that I still talk about…because they were the best Black Friday deals I’ve ever gotten. It also happens to be the only one that I really did my homework on.
Then I realized, hmmm…maybe — just maybe — it might be worth my while to do some research on Black Friday sales. Sure, we know all about the big stores and their Black Friday ads…but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There’s a whole lot more to smart Black Friday shopping than just grabbing some sale ads.
Prepare…plan…and pack a bag. Yes, pack a bag. You’ll need snacks and drinks, as well as other items (like tissues, medication, your phone charger, and so on). Black Friday is no joke. You can’t just roll out of bed and think you’re gonna hang with the big dogs. You have to

Seriously, Coupons.com is seriously pulling out all the stops for Black Friday. Sure, they’re a great source for coupons, but now they’ve got a magazine with articles on all kinds of topics. Right now, though, it’s the Black Friday articles that have piqued my interest. Where else will you find these kinds of tips and suggestions? Nowhere that I know of!
