My review of Your Nutrition Solution to Acid Reflux

Of the handful of books I’ve read about acid reflux, this stands out far above the rest. My acid reflux is nearly debilitating and nothing I’ve done so far has alleviated the symptoms. I know the drill: Take medication and avoid caffeine, fatty and fried foods, alcohol, smoking, and so on. But is there more we can do to help control acid reflux? There is.

If you take H2 Blockers such as Zantac, Pepcid, or Tagamet, they should be taken 30 minutes before eating a meal. That way it will be at its peak when your stomach is producing acid. In addition, it is also good to take them at night to help control gastric acids while you sleep. But you need to know that it is important to adjust your diet and your lifestyle in addition to taking medication.

One thing you can do is drink beverages (including water) between meals rather than with meals. That way you can reduce the chance of bloating, helping avoid reflux. Another thing you can do is try foods that can help your acid reflux — bananas, oatmeal, yogurt, and pineapple, to name a few.

Your Nutrition Solution to Acid Reflux has so much information, yet it’s never overwhelming. I devoured this book, making notes in the margins, underling portions I wanted to refer to, and made a place on my bookshelf for it. It’s a reference guide that will be my go-to book to help me deal with this miserable health problem. I cannot recommend it enough — trust me, if you have acid reflux, you need this book. It could be a lifesaver!

I have debilitating acid reflux also and have tried all the meds, different nutrition plans and so many other things to no avail. I feel like I have a fire burning and nasty taste of bile in my throat ALL THE TIME! Will be checking this book out to see if it will help. TFS!
