I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Dove. I received product samples of Dove Clear Tone Deodorant to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.
If you shave your underarms, you know that it can be (and often is) harsh. As a matter of fact, 32 million women in this country experience red and dark marks under their arms as a result of irritation from shaving. That’s because shaving leads to a loss of moisture in your underarm skin. We’re talking half the moisture. Half! Half the moisture means dryness and irritation.
That’s definitely the case for me. In fact, after about thirty years of shaving (Wait. What? I’ve been shaving for thirty years? *quickly does rudimentary math in her head* Oh man, I’ve been shaving for three decades. Ugh.), my underarm skin most definitely has taken a beating. Come on, ladies, you know what I’m talking about. And no matter what fancy-shmancy shaving creams/gets/lotions we use with all kinds of emollients and minerals and moisturizers and whatever else, it doesn’t seem to make a difference. At least not for me.
Then, about five days ago, I started using Dove Clear Tone Anti-Perspirant/Deodorant. It is formulated to reduce redness and dark marks in your underarm skin in just two weeks. That’s because it provides moisturizers to replenish your skin’s moisture level. Dove Clear Tone is made with Calendula and Sunflower Seed Extracts, thus moving the natural skin renewal process along by helping restore your underarm skin to its natural tone (it says so right on the deodorant!).
Dove Clear Tone Deodorant offers 48-hour protection from wetness and odor (yay!) and comes in four varieties, including Pink Rosa, which has a floral and fruity fragrance. That’s nice.
Now, I don’t generally use Dove deodorant. But with what Dove Clear Tone has to offer? I’m willing to give it a shot. Unfortunately, I didn’t take a picture on Day 1 — but I will take a picture today and track my progress. In the short time I’ve been using it, I have noticed some improvement. I mean, after thirty years (ugh!) of shaving, it takes a toll. In fact, it makes your underarm skin kinda, well, icky. To the point where you don’t want to expose that skin for the world to see. It’s certainly not smooth and flawless — and it certainly doesn’t look as silky and glowing as freshly shaved legs look. I always wondered why that was the case. No longer!
For some reason (which, right now, I can’t make heads or tails of), it never occurred to me to moisturize my underarm skin…because I was going to be using deodorant within minutes, and it just didn’t seem to make sense. I figured the lotion residue would be something of a barrier to the deodorant…or something. I don’t really know. But it doesn’t matter now…I have Dove Clear Tone! So, 48-hour protection, great smelling fragrances, and it adds moisture. It’s a deodorant trifecta!
