I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for OxiClean. I received an OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover product sample to facilitate my review and promotional item as a thank you for participating.
We all have stains, right? From baby stains to kid stains to work stains to pet stains to, well, there are a lot of stains going on. Usually, during the summer, the stains on work clothes are pretty, pretty bad…with W being a carpenter and all. There’s sweat and all kinds of other schmootz (is that spelled right?) all over his clothing. It’s disgusting. Seriously. And, of course, when my kids were little, it was a stain smorgasbord — you name the stain, I pretty much had it, with four kids under the age of 5 (eek!). Luckily, my stains aren’t that terrible at the moment, but when I received some OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover, I set out to find something that needed rescuing.
And, wouldn’t you know it, I found something. I have this big, fluffy pillow with a removable cover (thank goodness!) that seems to get way more abuse than most objects in my house. My kids use it constantly (as do I!) and, before you know it, it’s a big hot mess. There’s just the usual wear and tear, but when something gets a whole heck of a lot of use, it’s subjected to a lot of handling, and then the sweat and makeup and oil from our skin and hair products and dirt and blech! When you take a long hard look at it, you realize it’s disgusting.
Ick. Ick ick ick! It’s like, yellowed. And, believe me, I wash this pillow case regularly and often. And yet, it looks…gross. Stinkin’ kids, I swear. But, this was a good test for the OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover, right? Right.
OK, so this isn’t the worst stain in the world, but it was something I could point to and go, “Here. Here, OxiClean, let’s see what you can do!” So, I put some of the OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover powder in the washer, started a small load (in order to keep it concentrated when I soaked the pillowcase), and let it soak for about six hours.
Then I ran it through the wash cycle (with other items…relax, I didn’t waste water or energy!) and here’s how it came out:
What?!?! Do you see that? That’s ridiculous (in a good way)! Check out that stain, by the way…
Holy guacamole. Now I know the stain isn’t 100% gone, but come on! Considering I’ve never treated it before and just tossed it in the wash without any kind of special attention to stain removal…that’s pretty good. Plus, I don’t know how long the stain has even been there. Here’s a Before and After:
Whoa, buddy. That’s a major improvement. OK. You passed the first test, OxiClean. Let’s see how you do on the next stain I can scare up.
Ew. Ew ew ew! I’m gagging over here. That is vile. Who knew it was that hard for a man to hit their target? *shudder*
Now, keep in mind, I wash my rugs, like, all the time. As in, like every 10 days or so. Of course, I just toss them in the wash and add detergent, without doing anything special, like soaking them or treating them with a stain remover. But when you’re looking for stains, well, this one sure fits the bill. Ugh. It’s disgusting, I know.
Anywho, I soaked it in the washer in a small amount of water and some OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover for about 6 hours and then ran it through the wash cycle. Let’s see how this test worked…
Wait one minute. Is that…nah, it can’t be. Let’s take a second look, shall we?
I haven’t had a reason (yay!) to try OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover on any other stains, like on furniture or on carpet, but don’t think I won’t…because you can bet your butt that I will, after seeing results like these!
OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover is a chlorine-free, color-safe, and oxygen-based stain fighter that is safe for use all around your home. It is the strongest stain fighter of all the OxiClean products. And, it also:
- Boosts detergent for better overall cleaning and whitening
- Gets out stains that detergent alone can leave behind so they don’t become dryer-set
- Helps prevent colors from fading due to chlorine in municipal water.
- Provides amazing results when treating extra stubborn stains, by using it to pre-treat or soak in a concentrated solution
Here’s what I know for sure: OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover is now a staple in our house. Period.
