Netflix Kids

Netflix is great, for a bunch of reasons. But I just happened upon possibly the best one: Netflix Kids. Anyone with little kids knows that they pretty much (and by pretty much, I mean always) want to watch cartoons or kids movies all day long. Like All. Day. Long. (and all night long) So, either you relinquish control of your TV or you feel like a total party pooper and claim your place as master of the remote, and the entertainment. That’s one way to go.

Or, you could watch the same cartoons over and over again, with no control of the programming…and find yourself humming the theme songs of the same old tired cartoons (and movies) while you’re in the shower, standing in line at Starbucks (that’s super cool!), and waiting to check out at the grocery store. Sure, that’s another option.

But…and I’m just spiffballing here…you could see how Netflix works for you and your family. We decided to give it a whirl for, I admit, a bunch of reasons, but it turns out that Netflix Kids is pretty much one of their most awesome (no, not “awesomest” — it’s not a word) features, period. But it’s not just for entertaining your children during the daytime. Because nighttime TV programming isn’t for everyone — not for everyone in the family, that is — Netflix Kids is a great choice. And a fun choice. And a sensible choice.

In the evenings, when everyone is together, that’s always a special time, in our family, anyway. It’s that “quality” time, when we’re winding down from our busy day…but, more important, when we’re all together. You want to spend it wisely. Netflix Kids is a wise way to spend that time. Trust me.

You can watch Netflix Kids — TV shows that our kids love, such as Curious George, Angelina Ballerina, Caillou, and even Sesame Street, as well as movies like Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, The Aristocats (I love this movie! I mean, um, Hope loves this movie!), and Pocahontas. That’s just a taste, of course, because there’s so, so much more! They even have the Powerpuff Girls! I remember watching them religiously when my teenagers were little — and now I get to watch them all over again. Yay!

Of course, you’re probably aware — but if you’re not, that’s OK, too — that you can watch your favorite TV shows and movies on Netflix. You can watch them anywhere, any time — it’s all up to you. Plus Netflix is available for viewing on just about any device you can think of. And streaming Netflix is so simple. You can download the free app on your iPad — like I did, above — or utilize the Netflix app on any gaming device, or visit on your computer or laptop. Boom! Streaming.

And, of course, as I’ve already mentioned, you will love the dedicated Netflix Kids section, which has offerings that are appropriate for children between the ages of 2 and 12. All the Netflix Kids content is selected with the assistance of Common Sense Media to provide ratings, reviews, and the information that parents and caregivers need so you can make good choices for your kids! However, you’ll find that the family-friendly content you’ll find in the Netflix Kids area are all-around family favorites, plain and simple. That’s the beauty of it — everyone enjoys it. The older kids might not own up to it…but they do, too. Of course, not quite as much as Hope, who hogs the laptop. All. The. Time. The stinker

See? She won’t even let her favorite bear share in the Netflix Kids fun. Now that’s a stinker!

What are you watching on TV with your family? Netflix has family favorites from Disney, Disney Jr., Hasbro, Cartoon Network and Dreamworks that are available to stream anytime, anywhere.

And streaming is easier than you think! Download the free app on your iPad, click on the Netflix app on any gaming device, go to the website on your computer – and you’re in business. Check it out here!
