With Hurricane Sandy battering the East Coast, promising to be a storm of epic proportions (and leaving devastation in its wake), some still question if it’s going to be all it’s cracked up to be. If predictions are correct, it will earn a high-ranking spot in the history of hurricanes in the United States.
That attitude is due, in part, to how parts of the East Coast (including the Philadelphia area and New York City) were put into a panic regarding Hurricane Irene — which didn’t live up to its potential in some regions. That should have been a relief, rather than a rationale for not taking Hurricane Sandy seriously.
Just hours remain before we find out exactly where Hurricane Sandy will rank in the history of hurricanes in the United States.
