Yeah, I said it. Dogs are better than cats. Don’t judge me.

I’m not the only one saying it, either. There are a whole bunch of people who believe that dogs are better than cats, and there is no shortage of articles online regarding this showdown between canines and felines — or rather the lovers of them. Trust me. Just do a search for “dogs are better than cats.” I’ll wait.

And wait.

Yeah, that took a while, didn’t it? There are a ton of people out there arguing this point, am I right? You probably found the Australian news article about how research shows dogs are better than cats. I don’t know about you, but it appears that Australian newspapers are pretty lax when it comes to their newswriting. I could probably get a job there (that’s not a dig — I have journalism experience but tend to toss a little whimsy into my writing, as you can tell).

It’s utterly amazing to me that all people don’t automatically just love dogs. I have always been a dog lover — I’m so-so on cats — basically because I think they’re awesome. They love you and they play with you and they cuddle with you and they protect you and they keep you company and…yeah, they’re just awesome. Yes, dogs are better than cats. Period.

Cats? Sure, there are some people who have really cool cats who do fun and amazing things — and they’re arguing that cats are better than dogs (but they’re wrong). However, I’ve never had one of those cats. So, maybe that’s why I’m a little sour on cats.

And, of course, my miserable old cat isn’t even miserable enough to become famous like Grumpy Cat.
