Photobombed!: Making Bad Pictures Great and Good Pictures Awesomely Bad
By Beverly Jenkins, $12.99 (Paperback)
Photobombed! is the brain child of Oddee.com, one of the top humor websites on the Internet. Oddee boasts 2.7 million unique visitors per month, 65,000+ Facebook fans and 10,000+ Twitter followers. On September 1, 2012, Oddee will present the first collection of one of the top humor memes on the Internet: the Photobomb!
To put it simply, Photobombed! is just plain fun. You’ve probably seen “photobombs” circulating around the Internet, Facebook or e-mail. In case you’re unfamiliar with the photobomb, it means “to ruin other people’s photos by making silly faces and/or moving into the background or foreground immediately before the photos are taken, often unbeknownst to the other people in the picture.” Photobombs are funny (unless it’s your photo that has been photobombed, I suppose) and sometimes, downright hilarious.
Photobombed! compiles the best, separates them into categories such as “Stranger Bombs,” “Kid Bombs,” “Party Bombs,” ” TV Bombs,” “Wedding Bombs,” and more. Author Beverly Jenkins has provided her own captions under each photo, which add a nice dash of humor. My favorites are the “Animal Bombs,” especially ones involving cats. One photobomb I particularly enjoyed was of a pregnant woman showing off her baby bump. In the background is a cat, staring straight into the camera, his eyes gleaming from the camera flash. The caption: “Laser-beam cat can’t wait to eat meet your baby…but he is patient. Oh, so patient.” Love it!
Photobombed! is a fun coffee-table type book (OK, OK, not high brow, but guests will still love picking this up!) and would be a great gift for someone who enjoys (or needs) a little humor in their life.
