There comes a time when (most) musicians should just hang. it. up. Now would be a good time for KISS to do that. Musicians like Tony Bennett and Paul McCartney can go on basically forever but KISS? Admittedly, I was never a big fan but this isn’t about hating on KISS. This is downright silly. And Gene Simmons still sticking his tongue out? Ick. Not hot.
First up: Sherri Shepherd & Val, doing the tango to a Quiet Riot song (“Cum on Feel the Noise”). It was pretty good. I was pleasantly surprised. Their score: 21. Eek.
Katherine Jenkins & Mark were next, with the paso doble. It was good. I was not blown off the couch or anything, but it was decent. The judges gave them three 8s, for a 24.
Jaleel White & Kym then performed the tango to “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction.” This should be interesting. I liked it a lot. Carrie Ann said she loved it but Len and Bruno were a tad more critical. They got a 22. Boo.
Here come Melissa Gilbert & Maks. They danced the paso doble. Don’t ask me to what song, because I have no clue. Overall, it was decent, but there were some errors. Yikes. The judges only gave them a 22.
Next up: Donald Driver & Peta and another paso doble. The only difference was that their performance was insanely good. The judges awarded them accordingly, with three 9s, for a 27.
Gladys Knight & Tristan performed the tango to “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Hmm. I don’t really know how I felt about that. The music was very distracting. Plus, Gladys is still a bit stiff, but, come on…she’s not a kid anymore. Their score: 20. Oof.
William Levy & Cheryl did the jive to Twisted Sister. I thought he was doing pretty well until he somehow blew the move where he was supposed to swing Cheryl between his legs, which was huge. However, the judges were far more critical. They gave him a 22.
Roshon Fagan & Chelsie then danced my favorite dance: the Viennese Waltz. Maybe it’s just me being an old fuddy duddy (that’s entirely possible), but I wasn’t thrilled. It was too fast-paced and erratic. It may have technically been fine and dandy but it was not my cup of tea. Len said, “Good job” and Carrie Ann told him he was the best dancer of the male contestants. The judges awarded them a 26.
Maria Menounos & Derek did a tango to “School’s Out.” Maria has some major foot issues going on, including a stress fracture. I was not blown away. All I know is, I want her to stick around because then I get to see John Stamos in the audience. Rawr. They got a 26. Wow.
The episode concluded with Gavin DeGraw & Karina doing the tango. He’s still not doing anything that really excites me, but that’s probably just me. They received a 23.
Who do you think will be headed home? Honestly, it’s pretty much a popularity contest at this point, since the contestants are so closely matched. I think Gavin DeGraw will be headed home.
