I cannot even put into words how I feel about the Comfort Cross. It is simply a beautiful, special, meaningful piece that, coincidentally, arrived at just the right time. Let me back up, though, and give you a little background.
Comfort Crosses are individually carved from a unique piece of beautifully grained olive wood that is pruned from the olive trees around Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus. The olive tree, as you may or may not know, is probably the most significant plant mentioned in the Bible. If you recall Old Testament teachings, it was the type of leaf brought by a dove to Noah in the ark. It was also the type of tree that Jesus prayed under before the Last Supper. It has been a source of food, lamp oil, anointing oil, and building material throughout history. The olive tree is an evergreen, one that can grow for thousands of years. The leaves are a sign of abundance; its fruit oil is used to anoint the sick; its hard and beautiful timber is used by craftsman for carving.
Christians have been carving crosses from olive trees like these for hundreds of years, originally for pilgrims and, more recently, for tourists visiting the Holy Land. Each craftsman receives a fair price to support their family and Christian community. The Comfort Cross is designed to fit comfortably into the palm of your hand as an aid to prayer or meditation. It is ideal as your spiritual companion for easing children’s fears, comforting worries and stresses of adults, and focusing the prayer of the sick and elderly. The mission of My Comfort Cross is to help Christians in Bethlehem who carve these crosses (and other religious items) to support themselves and their families.
I’m absolutely love my Comfort Cross; it’s so unique, so smooth, so beautiful — it really is soothing to hold it in your hand. However, because I have some folks in my life right now who are in need of soothing (more so than I), I will be passing this along to a new home, where it will hopefully bring some comfort. It is, without question, a very relaxing and uplifting meditation aid. I can’t stop holding it, actually.
My readers can take advantage of a wonderful Comfort Cross special — two crosses for only $10 (includes shipping to U.S. addresses)!
Generally, Comfort Crosses are $8 each (shipping included), two for $12. A “mission pack” of eight crosses is $40. For those who are interested in purchasing Comfort Crosses in bulk (for churches or fundraising efforts, etc.), the price drops to $3/cross plus shipping. Each beautiful Comfort Cross comes in its own velveteen bag.
Comfort Cross is offering two of my readers their very own Comfort Cross…trust me, you will treasure it!
