One thing I know for sure about the Daylight Saving Time change (also known as Daylight Savings Time) is that I’m “off” for a few days after I lose that hour’s sleep.
According to some, George Vernon Hudson is credited with the time change we are currently familiar with, having introduced it in 1895. Different countries have used the Daylight Saving Time system throughout the last century and it’s been used regularly since the 1970s energy crisis.
However, in addition to providing extra daylight hours, the Daylight Saving Time change has some unwanted effects. It can have an impact on timekeeping, meeting and travel schedules, medical devices, and electronics. In general, software is programmed to take Daylight Saving Time into consideration, but it doesn’t always work — especially when the DST is adjusted. That was the case in 2007 when President George W. Bush extended Daylight Saving Time by one month, per the Energy Policy Act of 2005.

I participated in an Ambassador Activation on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Lay’s. I received a promotional item to thank me for participating in the Do Us A Flavor campaign.
You may have heard that Lay’s is hosting a contest for a new potato chip flavor. This year, entrants can choose from three different chip varieties — Lay’s Original, Lay’s Kettle Cooked, and Lay’s Wavy — for their flavor submission in the “Do Us A Flavor” contest. Judges (chefs, foodies, and flavor experts) will go through the contest submissions and narrow them down to four finalists. Those flavors will be produced by Lay’s, unveiled in summer 2014 and sold nationwide. Then, fans will vote for the flavor they want to see on store shelves. The creator of the winning flavor will win a $1 million grand prize (See Rules)! The Do Us A Flavor contest is open to U.S. residents.

I was not financially compensated for writing this post. I was provided an Ecogear backpack sample for review. My opinions are 100% honest and 100% mine.
The founder of Ecogear had a simple, yet noble, idea: Create a line of functional, fashionable bags that don’t harm the environment or our children’s health. Practical. Obvious. Genius.
All Ecogear bags are made with planet-friendly organic cotton, PVC-free materials, recycled plastics, and toxic-free dyes and components. That means they’re good for us and our kids as well as the environment. What’s the catch? Oh, they must be utilitarian. Which means ugly. No frills. Nothing special. Right? Wrong! There’s no compromising on anything when it comes to Ecogear bags. Seriously! Check out this Ecogear backpack…

This post is part of the SPLENDA® 365 SWEET SWAPS ™ blogger program by McNeil Nutritionals, LLC and The Motherhood, who sent me products and compensated me for my time. Opinions, experiences and photos shared here about SPLENDA Sweet Swaps are my own, and I hope you enjoy them.
Although I’m not “big” on sugar, I have come to realize that I am probably consuming more than I should. After all, the recommended maximum intake for women is 6 teaspoons daily. On average, we eat approximately 22 teaspoons of sugar every day! That’s almost four times the recommended maximum. Yikes.
Many people (myself included!) grossly underestimate the amount of sugar in our daily diet because it hides in some of our favorite foods and beverages, such as vanilla lattes, fruit-flavored yogurt, salad dressing and cereal. Once we realize where the sugar is hiding, we can come up with ways to eliminate the excess sugar from our diets, by doing SPLENDA Sweet Swaps!
So, when I heard about SPLENDA Sweet Swaps, it got my attention. Splenda has 365 different suggestions for how to swap sugar for SPLENDA® Sweetener Products in your daily routine. Here’s one example:

I participated in an Influencer Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for MassMutual. I received a promotional item to thank me for participating in their State of the American Family campaign.
MassMutual recently concluded a study in which they researched the State of the American Family. I was curious as to their findings, especially how it pertained to our perceptions of “the American dream.”
I’ve always considered my grandparents to be the epitome of the American dream. My grandfather was born to two Italian immigrants. My grandmother immigrated to America after World War II, to marry my grandfather. My grandfather worked hard and saved even harder, sacrificing to provide a stable and secure future for his growing family. They had five children between 1948 and 1964. The family lived in a beautiful single home in the suburbs of Philadelphia. After raising their children, they spent their golden years traveling around the world. They truly lived the American dream.

I never really gave it much thought before, but after watching this video, I realized that I subscribe to some Swiss myths. Who woulda thought?
Switzerland is full of snow-covered mountains like these, right?
Hmmm. What if that’s another one of those Swiss myths? Let’s see…
